Anak cili pendang - Top Student at SK Tanah Merah

Minggu lepas, maknya pi sekolah atas jemputan pihak sekolah SK Tanah Merah. Tapi tak ambil gambar masa majlis penyampaian tu, tak leh tayang kat sini la. Ya lah anak happy kita pun happy!!! Kami bercadang nak beli meja study kat diaorang, tapi rezeki cili masih kurang lagi. Tak sempat nak suport dan modal pun dah kering. Cobaaannn.. Alamat melayanglah modal puluh ribu nanti. Salam tani. "Anak didahulukan, pencapaian hasil cili diutamakan"

Me with Honey Jackfruit

Here I come with Honey Jackfruit and Jackfruit Banana. Very funny name ahhhh... In Malay word this type of Jack fruit is called "Nangka Madu" with slightly reddish in colour and has a very sweet taste. Retail price is higher and the size is bigger than normal jackfruit. It is very famous in Malaysia and sometime people export it out of country to Japan, Singapore and Taiwan. The other fruit is Jackfruit Banana. We call it "Pisang Nangka" which Malay do not eat it raw but need to fry with sweet flour. Quite similar to "Pisang Jelai". The size is also bigger than other normal banana types such as "Pisang Emas" gold banana, "Pisang Abu" dust banana. (Direct translation from Malay to English will give a strange meaning?. For this Jackfruit banana, some people will slice it to small pieces and dry under hot sun after mix with little salt. Taste is good. These two types of fruits we have planted last 3 years during our first lime farming project but in small qty. We plant Honey Jackfruits along the border of our farm to block strong wind. As for the banana tress, we use as a shadow to cover our lime fruits from hot sun. The lime plant is sensitive to extreme whether in early stage of 2 year period. As the plant was grown up, we cleared all the banana tree but the root is still growing till today. Banana species is hard to remove all as the seed in the soil is big and heavy. There are still many lime plants we keep for our side income. Last weekend we picked about 35kg of "Kasturi Lime" which gave us RM2.50/kg of wholesale price compare to RM0.70 last year. Now we have replaced all old plants with our chili with few left over which is still be able to produce fruits. Last 2 days we was lucky enough to smell the aroma of ripen jackfruit and manage to get it in good shape. The weight was more than 15kg. Sometime it was left rotten as we were busy with our chili project. It is good to have different varieties of fruits in our farm, then we can enjoy our own planted fruits instead of buying from the market. The sense of satisfaction and greatness is there even after long years of hard work . It is only applicable to those with big land and wide farming area and for Malay farmer, it is a rare phenomena. " Wish one day our dream come true. Born to be rich."

How to prune chili plant.

Chili plant that required pruning. You can see from the photo that there are many branches at the lowest part of chili plant. These branches should be removed in order to add extra boost for upper "Y" section for producing more chili fruits. This will help the plant to grow healthier and will be easier to take care for future fungus and disease control. We can see the fruits dangling below the branches during fruit picking season after the lower parts are cleared. 1. Cut the lowest branch. 2. Cutting the 2nd. lowest branch. 3. Remove the old leaves. 4. After pruning. Only the branch above "Y" are maintained for fruits production. Pruning process is a must do activities for all chili plants as part of making the plant healthier and stronger. It will also give the longevity life span and strength during windy season. Pruning is considered cultural practice for chili growers. By doing this method it will make the plant lower section grow bigger and stable. It will be able to hold more fruits and the branch is not easy to break. The result:- Branch above "Y" section will be able to produce bigger size of fruits and with good quality. The quantity of fruits will be increased as more nutrient will go direct to top branches. You will be able to see the result after 2 weeks from pruning process. The shape of plant looks more beautiful and rigid. And again if you find any extra new branches at lower section, these must be removed again as it will take more nutrient instead of supplying for fruit production. Hidup biar sihat. Selamat berjaya.

Susah gomen kalau kita terlebih ambil tau dan cheghedik sikit

Dah empat hari cili kami tak dapat dikutip kerana buah kurang. Mungkin petang nanti kot baru kutip untuk tempahan kenduri. Antar dan amik anak skolah, mandi, makan, pi masjid dan balik tidur. Katalah pak tani cili ke padi ke getah ke rock melon ke.... ni terlebih tahu la sikit. Nak gak komen..... 1.

"Royal Commissions and their findings are not to be trifled with and applied selectively. Their findings and recommendations are conveyed in a report submitted to the King, who then transmits them to the Government.

Their recommendations have the status of instructions from the King. The recommendations of the Royal Commission on the Police have not been properly implemented.

The Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Lingam Video clip might as well not have been conducted, because its findings have been completely ignored.

Both Commissions investigated matters fundamental to law and order in this country: the capability and integrity of the police and of the judiciary."

Nak tau banyak lagi, pi kat Tengku Razaleigh punya link belah kanan. Ni baru satu dua contoh. Belum flash back yang lama-lama lagi. Kesah mata lebam, Pewaja, kisah kat Perak, kisah kat Teganu kita, balak Pahang dulu, Bakun, wang ehsan, dan bla bla..... Banyak tuuu. Lepas tu diam. Rakyat pun diam geram. Last last meletup macam lautan kuning Bersih dulu. Abis smo kelam kabut. Tak mustahil jadi lagi cam tu kalau smo pak tani terlebih pandai.

THE development of a revoluntionary giant telescope is a step closer with the Federal Govenment forking out $88 million towards its construction. When man first landed on the moon in 1969, Australia played a key role in beaming the first television pictures back to earth. To mark the 40th anniversary, the federal government has forked out $88 million to help develop a revolutionary giant telescope...........-------------------------------------------------------------

Tapi sapa yang nak kecoh-kecoh pasal yang tak mampu sekolah ni. Masing-masing tanggung sendiri.

Semuanya nak tumpang sekaki komen. Kita memang la bersimpati ngan keluarga Teoh. 1M macam satu keluarga la gitu. Sedih gak!!! Mintak2 tu lepas settle kes teoh ni, pikir-pikir lah pasal pelajaran kat anak2 kita untuk maju. Kalau kita baca lagi berita ekonomi pulak, semua kompeni untung. Kalau kena jelajah kampung lagi teruk. Baik dok diam2 kat opis cukup bulan amik gaji. Bagi yang mana mampu antar sekolah pulak macam pak tani ni, dia orang cakap kena bayar PIBG la, yuran periksa lah, buku latihan lah, yuran hapa-hapa entah. Sekolah Tak free la tu kalau sepenggal kena beratus. Kalau ada 4 anak sekolah dah berapa kena?? Lepas SPM pulak kena wat loan PTPTN kalau nak sambung. Kena bayar lagi.... Dengar cita, kat Australia "education is free". Kami Pak Tani ni kena selalu kat luar, kalu tak abis pokok mati ooooo..... Malam tak palah pasal pokok pun tido jugak. Salam tani.

Higher demand for chili

Ni dapat tangkap sekor anak lipas tengah songlap cili kami. Siang hari pun dia sapu. Kunjugan anda amat dialu-alukan. Selamat bertani.

Chili with fertigation system

Fertigation system is vital for chili plant in order to feed and maintain the healthy grow to produce a good quality chili. The system need a daily check and proper service to give more efficient flow of nutrient and water. If at any point, the system clog then it will effect the plant. It is very critical especially for chili planted in poly bag as it can sustain only little substance and in short time for plant consumption. So for a complete and fully integrated fertigation system, normally a timer is required to control the plant feeding at the interval of 1 or 2 hours for few minutes. It will be able to schedule for 4 to 5 times a day which depend on the plant size. In our case, we have applied this system to 2000 plants which staggered in 2 location. As such we use few stop valves so that we are able to control the flow evenly on every row of our plants. We do not use the timer to control the flow because 1hp pump has low pressure if we set on one time for all. On the other 1000 plants, we still manage manually. It is not practical to follow our technique as it is time consuming and labour intensive. But to cater for a small qty, it would be less problem. We do in stages as to save money and see how it work best. For those of you who are interested in fertigation system, we advise you to prepare for a complete setting or close loop fertigation system for whole plant area. The cost will be double as you need a lot of accessories such 2 water tanks to cater for a constant supply, pump with higher capacity, few sizes of piping system, a lot of micro pipe and quality drippers. There are many choices available in hardware shops or fertigation suppliers nowadays that offer different type of materials with low and high quality depending on individual budget. You will learn more on it should you do the installation by you own but be prepare to have all the tools required such as the cutter, drill, hand saw, hand glove etc. It is advisable for those new farmer to plan and study properly before do any investment. It will cost a lot and the return of investment will take few cycles. The farmer also need to look at every angle such as the benefit of the system to their plant, multi purpose and applicable for different plants then final decision is based only on long term and future expansion. It is not wise if the farmer just do for one cycle or season and give up the project. The return will not enough to cover the total cost as it is a fixed asset and the money spent will go down the drain if it is not use on next cycle. We as a farmer need a lot of courage, able to control mental stress and hard work to determine our success. We must make sure we have enough labour support or assistance as it is not a stand alone project. Besides that we also need to have extra cash or saving to cater the unwarranted event or hidden cost. There are also a repetitive cost for fertilizer, pesticide and preparation for a continuation of next plant cycle. We should not wait at the end of first cycle to start a new as it will take another 6 months to harvest. Experience friends and networking also play a vital role. Go and visit those farmer that already have the system to seek the advise and see their layout. Search for a knowledge and pattern which is related to our work scope then do a trial run for a small plot to save the budget. Maybe 100 poly bags which fully utilised system then go for 2k or 5K poly bags. You will find it easier to handle it at later stage. Selamat berjaya.

Sakit jari dibuatnya. Nak beli yang 2hp pulak bajet masih out. Paip dan peralatan sambungan fasa 2 aje dah dekat 2 ribu melayang. Kena la tunggu hasil tuaian yang baru. OK, kali ni tak boleh nak cerita panjang. Tengah hangat dengan Manik Urai punya cerita. Ya lah nak tau jugak apa janji baru gomen kita. Ada undi ada janji. Tunai ke tidak belakang kira laa.... Kat P.Pauh pun janji, B. Gantang pun janji, Manik urai pun janji, P/raya umum dulu pun janji. Untung betul rakyat Msia ni. Macam-macam gomen bagi. Yang peliknya kat Manik Urai ni, gomen nak jadikan anak angkat kalau menang. Macam-macam pembangunan nak bagi. Kat tempat lain camno....!!!! Kat Kelantan tu gomen kalah semua kawasan ke? Tapi Bacuk dan banyak kawasan lain pun, rasanya menang. Janji dah tunai habis ke? Ngapa tiba-tiba aje semua nak bagi kat Manik Urai? Masa menang 2004 dulu tak sempat tunai janji kot... Tak yah la nak tunggu undi kot, lambat lagi rasanya. Wassalam dari Pak Tani.

PPSMI issue - Comment from a farmer

Greeting from pak tani, Lately there is a havoc in Malaysia on this silly PPSMI issue. Every single-minded person in all walk of life is giving their idea, comment, or at least a few words either agree or disagree. Some even do not really understand what is actually happen or what is the real issue behind all this nonsense. The question is whether this "PPSMI" (pengajaran pelajaran sains dan matematik dalam bahasa inggeris) has achieved their goal set way back in the last 6 year before the implementation. If it is based on yesterday news from Muhyidin that our government has scrapped it, then it was a FAILED policy. What was the real motif on this PPSMI? Was it want to improve student on Science and Math subjects, or was it to teach student on English subject? If you ask any farmer how to plant RED chili, then they will say you need a RED chilli seed. Then the output should be RED CHILI fruit if you care it properly till the end. You don't use melon seed to plant together with chilli which end up with complicated plant tree and root. The result maybe a crook chilli with flat melon. Conclusion is if you want our kid to learn English then concentrate and teach them English subject. Teach Math or Science accordingly as per the subject itself and do not mix with others. Language is a separate issue. "Satu satu laaa... baru budak tak pening" Teach what ever skill and knowledge in the language that they know. In our case we use Bahasa Melayu. Pity for those from remote area especially Malay which is very poor in English. Furthermore Math is not an easy subject too. Then Science is more complicated. If they failed English, so do the Math and Science. Last time mostly will failed only one english subject and still able to further their study. But now they failed all the 3 subjects. That's why many of them really success as " Mat Rempit". It is easy to learn to compare with these 3 subjects. But hey, mind you that the policy was done by genius people; academician, politician, professors and what have you. Surely they have done a research, test run and look at every angle of it. Yes they are genius but with their own agenda. So stupid people like us will carry the burden. Finally our kids will suffer. Or maybe they want our kid to be a farmer like us instead of replacing them in the future. Is it true? We as a farmer is wondering. We are from a suspicous lot. What can you do....... " Lu pikir la sendiri...."

Mentality and attitude of traditional farmer

OK, today we would like to talk about our traditional farmer.
In our land Malaysia, the people perception will focus on Malay farmers
with poor and lower living standard. They do not see beyond that even
many of our farmers are rich and wealthy especially those who are having
a big farm with modern machinery at work. Yes there is only in small numbers of them and with financial support from our government fund, subsidies and technical know how. Those selected people with money, knowledge, connection and far sighted view.
As such, if we suggest to our new generation to get involve in farming, mostly
will reject it outright. It is not a respectable career to start with and the work life
is not comfortable and clean to compare with even a factory worker.
Our new generation is looking for better environment, conditioning
room, spacious working area and within the city life. They do not look beyond that like a long term prospect, future income stability, work freedom and so on.
So after 5 to 10 years, they will get bored and start changing the platform
from one to another which end up having so little saving
or so much debt due to easy credit and crazy spending.
Farming has no future and so the other office jobs. Which one do your prefer?
Now you will only find old people running the farming industry here like in padi fields, rubber, coconut palms, oil palms and other crops. There are some area where the land is left idle as no people is willing to work on it or our old generation is no more capable to work.
For the old timer which is still in love or have to continue this tradition,
there are mostly not having any other choice other than to stick to it
till the end of lifetime.
With help from local LPP (Lembaga Persatuan Peladang) and many other agencies like FAMA, Mara, Mardi, DOA etc, our farmers still barely enough to live with good living standard and to provide better education to their children.
Everyday we can see in the newspaper and news that kids could not further studies due to financial problem, drop-out student with no where to go, parents turn to TV for donation, family with no food for days, social illness and many other bad news which is not a good sign for developing countries like us.
Yes, sorry to say that our farmers normally do not have a vision.
Do not know how to upgrade their standard, do not capable of implementing
new ideas and most of all do not have financial ability to expand their farming industry. Then this will lead them to nowhere and continue living in their own world of farming. Whose fault is this? For padi farmers for example, they will follow whatever routine set to them. When to plant, what fertilizer to use, where to sell and the cycle continue with little improvement. Beyond that is not in their mind. Come to an end of it, total income is barely enough to settle all the bills, debt, food and children education.
Our traditional farmers lack of knowledge, with no proper education,
with less modern agro-machine and technology. Then people will ask.
What about our neighbour Thailand?
They are able to do well and a lot of their stuff end up here with so much cheaper price to compare with us. Mango from Thailand are cheaper and nicer look. Durian from Thailand. Lychee, melons and other exotic fruits from Thailand.
Vegetables (sawi, chili, tomato, cucumber etc) also from Thailand. Tit bits and Assam fruits from Thailand. You just name it and it is from there. Why? Is it because we can not produce better?
Or because of our policy or any other "biru-crazy"? Remember at one time our chili price go up to RM18 to RM 20/kg. And then after "Siam mari" it was drop to nearly RM 1.80/kg. What has happen??? Our farmer also produce chili and what will happen to them. Burn chili like what happen to chicken at Johor in recent years.
We are able to produce on our own. We have enough land to cultivate and plant. Our land is suitable for any crops. We have people to work. We have knowledge and know how. We have technology. We have government to support us.
We have everything.
We need to change our mindset and teach our new generation on "green money"
to make a living. Old people can play their part as an adviser. Government must put aside of any policy which is not benefit to our farmers.
Or is it due to all above history and life-cycle that make our traditional farmers way of thinking. Their mind is already fed up with the drama, rhetoric and promises. They are no longer having a critical and creative mind to produce and improve quality and productivity.
We got no idea. Like what has been said by our famous Mr. Nabil....
"Lu fikir la sendiri!!!!!!"
(This is our own personal opinion and above article has no intention of hurting anybody.
Please use your own sense and judgement. We have right as stated in Human Right Declaration
to highlight our views)

Ulat Daun kat pokok Cili Merah

Kenkawan, Ulat daun pun makan daun cili jugak???? Tak berdengong ke diaorang. Cili ni kan pedas. Tak kira la daun ke batang. Setahu kami ulat daun ni telan daun tembakau aje. Ya....lah masa kami kecik-kecik dulu orang tua kami tanam tembakau. Jadi kami selalu gak tolong kutip dan buang ulat ni. Besar-besar ooo... ada sebesar jari kelingking. Kalau daun tembakau tu sebesar dua blah tapak tangan, tak sampai setengah ari abis kat dia. Setengah orang panggil "ulat susu". Wassalam.

Pest Control for Red Chili

Here are some of pesticides that we use alternatively on weekly basis. At early stage of one to two month after transplant, we concentrated more on controlling Hamama virus and fungus. We use Dyna-mec and Mitec. Later stage during fruit maturity season, we apply more on reducing insect which attack on fruit and flower. This time we use Topsin M, Mencozib MZ-45, insect fluid and alternate with Mitec. Do you have any better idea? Please share with us.

More on fertigation system

During weeek end, there was another busy routine for us. We started work at 8.30 am. Again, we and our 2 boys team were struggling to complete the second phase of fertigation system which is critical to reduce workload in dry season. Manual watering system is very tough to cover a wide area and the water spill will make the place uncomfortable to walk. There was a few incident happened which our members were slip down. This will also create a lot of wastage for AB fertilizer. We ordered all the piping, fittings and related connectors but end up with few shortages for the On-Off valves. Then had to rush again to hardware shop. Even in theory it looks simple to install the system but once you do it yourself you will know how crucial is your past hands on experience will help. All the pipes and joints need to be measured, cut and tightened properly. And under the hot sun, even a simple work will test your patient. We set our workplan as follow:- 1. Measure the pipe length for each line and cut. 2. Count how many total line required. 3. Determine the flow direction from the pump. 4. Set each location that required the On-Off valve. 5. Joint the main pipe with each supply pipe with T-joint and valve. 6. Drill hole on the pipeline per each polybag. 7. Close the end supply pipe with end cap. 8. Cut each microtube with standard length ( approx. 2 feet) for qty 1000 pcs. 9. Install the nipper into the hole and insert the micro tube. Since we have learned few tips on the first time, the work was quite smooth. After long and hard day without rest, we finally tested on 6pm once our system was fully installed. Still it could not function properly due to low pressure and leakage. Our friend Lan from teratak maya paid us a visit at noon. He sent us the balance of bamboo stick that we ordered last time. We still owed him the payment due last month. He is a very nice man and did not mind the delay. Our saving also dried up very fast as the cost of equipment nowdays is very high. The return of our investment has started coming in but in small amount. Daily average is between 15 to 20 kg. During a chit chat, he suggested to us for smaller micro pipe which will give more pressure. If we used his idea, then we need to go and buy another different set. As all of us already exhausted so we put it on hold to other day. We make use of our rest time to put bamboo stick on each of polybag since the third phase of Kulai King had started to bent and some of it, was already slanting. The time was not on our side as it seemed a lot of work has not been completed. The excess leaves and lower branches of Kulai King plants were not cut off yet. Many polybags needed to be replaced due to torn off. The chili need to pick for next day sale. The insect net has not been placed yet. The silvershine need put in at a new transit area. Then slowly the sun was going away........ Till the next day, the life and luck of a farmer is depend on Him, Allah the Great.

Kapasitinya lebeh kurang 600 gelen. 2. Pam Air 1HP - RM 255 3. Paip 1 inchi (main line) - RM 98 /1 gulung (100m) made in China w/o SIRIM - Kalau yang ada chop sirim mahal laa. 4. Paip 3/4 inchi (supply line) - RM 58 X 4 gulung (100m) = RM232 5. PVC MTA 1" - RM 2.40 X 3 biji = RM 7.20 6. T- Joint untuk 1" - RM 4.80X 2 biji = RM 9.60 7. T-Joint 1" ke 3/4" - RM 4.50X 20 biji = RM 90 8. ON-OFF soket 1" - RM 7.80 X 3 biji = RM 17.40 9. ON-OFF soket 3/4" - RM 5.80 X 20 biji = RM 116.00 10. M Soket 3/4" - RM 1.50 X 20 biji = RM 30.00 11. End cap 1" - RM 2.80 X 2 biji = RM 5.60 12. End cap 3/4" - RM 2.40 X 20 biji = RM 48.00 13. Nipper - RM 0.15 X 1000 biji = RM 150.00 14. Micro tube 6mm - RM 26.80 X 10 = RM 268.00 15. 18. Tutup ON-OFF soket ke kawasan tanaman 2 yang belum lengkap dan buka soket ON-OFF kawasan satu untuk tujuan ujian. 19.
